COVID-19: A Message from Game On Tables

Everywhere we go, everything we do, say, and hear is ultimately focused on the “virus.” Let’s face it… This is our new reality. Pardon the expression but the “rules of the game” have all been changed. Working from home, school closings, businesses, and even countries are now shut down! What can our gaming community do in this ever-changing international dilemma? Well, for one thing we can stay calm and heed all precautionary warnings. Proper personal hygiene is A MUST. Wash your hands multiple times while gaming with friends. Please cough and sneeze into your arm rather than your hand. Maintain personal space whenever possible. Don’t share drinks. Get adequate amounts of sleep. Common sense will go along way towards protecting you and your loved ones.

It looks like the population, as a whole, is being forced to REST. This isn’t a bad thing if we can stay positive and have the faith to truly believe that everything will be fine and “this too shall pass.” As Gamers we are actually a step ahead of the curve. We realize that small gatherings are great. Relaxing with friends and family over a board game has infinite value. We certainly don’t mind being away from the general population while engrossed in the wonders of awesome adventures. So, rather than constant worry over the virus, let’s continue to enjoy the hobby that we love so well. Gaming is a wonderful escape from the day-to-day pressures that all of us encounter. Let’s increase the time spent gaming; and above all, let’s stay calm and encourage others to do the same.

When we play “Settlers” my goal is never to win… I just want to build the longest road! I’m obsessed with the journey. May your journey as a gaming community be blessed with peace, prosperity, good health, and above all REST. We will get through this!

P.S. Know the symptoms of COVID-19 and seek medical advice if needed. Take whatever precautions necessary and, loathe we are to do it, cancel your game night if you are ill. We will game another day!
